Change On A Pond

I talk about change a lot here. It’s because change holds a lot of power, and also because I’m addicted to it.

A couple of days before I left home, and not knowing when I was going to be returning again, I spent the night at a friend’s camp on Bear Pond in Hartford, Maine.

I had stayed there dozens of times, it was nothing new. But I woke up in the morning knowing it would be the last time I’d be there for a while, and something caught my eye.

The sun was rising bright over the water and I snapped the photo below. I’d seen the same view so many times, but never really stopped to appreciate it. The cusp of change forced me to be present.

It’s not just a photo of a beautiful pond. For me, it’s yet another example that change is life’s greatest eye opener.
