Have time to goof off and still do great work

Last night I watched a bunch of videos on YouTube, then watched Entourage for a couple hours. It’s actually a very regular thing. Not every day, but pretty often.

My main focus right is to build things of value and make the world a better place. I do everything I can each day to get closer to where I want to be so I can have the impact I want to have.

So where is there time for stupid activities like that?

There’s all kinds of it.

If you’re honest with yourself, and not into doing half assed work, then you have time to goof off every day.

It’s simple: Do high level stuff when your mind is able to. I usually do my best work from 12-3 in the afternoon. So that’s when I do my most important stuff, whatever it might be that day.

In the mid-morning I do pretty good work too. So I do my medium level stuff then.

In the evening I’m completely and utterly useless. Creativity disappears, I’m easily distracted. I watch videos, TV shows and sometimes answer short emails that won’t take a lot of mental energy.

So I can either force it, or just let things happen the way they do and still get solid work done. Not really a tough choice.

When/how do you get your best work done?

I do something pretty similar. I do my best work right when I wake up, say from 9-12, then take a big break to eat. Mid-level work like emails after that, then my brain starts to fizzle and I take a walk or exercise. Shower, food, and more goof off time. I agree–when you’re fully focused, you only need a short amount of time to do things. The rest of the time you can use to recharge. I love it.

“When you’re fully focused, you only need a short amount of time to do things.” – Exactly the point I was trying to get across here.

I ploernasly am disgusted by this. I live in Frisco, and believe that, instead of building a huge church to celebrate your church, why not give to the poor and those in need in order to celebrate God’s gifts? This is quite disappointing and horrible. In a time where the number of people who need the Frisco Family Services’ help has gone up significantly, and so many all over the United States have lost their jobs, homes, and stability, this “ministry” has decided that putting another huge building up is more important than showing love towards their neighbors. *shakes head and sighs*
